Adlaw Hong Butuan

The Adlaw Hong Butuan is a yearly event in Butuan that celebrates its Charter Day. The Adlaw Hong Festival pays tribute to Butuan’s administrative status as a city. It therefore honors Butuan’s municipal officials, citizens and past leaders who have contributed their loyalty and efforts to the city. Adlaw Hong Butuan presents the city’s modern culture through its street parties, beauty pageants and motorcades. There is also a parade of performers and colorful floats to as the highlight of the event. Adlaw Hong Butuan is celebrated on the second day of August.

Laksoy Trivia

Nipa palm tree is locally known on its productivity in terms of sap due to its abundance growing along river banks and swampy areas. The Nipa Sap was scientifically discovered by indigenous people as a material to produce by making it a laksoy native wine. Unlike to other similar Palm trees such as coconut tree and palm oil tree they produce less sap and cannot processed into wine.

The fruit of the Nipa palm tree is the one being taking cared. They are harvested depending upon the maturity of its bough and fruits. To obtain a greater yield of the desire sap grade. The cutting of the fruits to produce nipa sap it involves a rather unusual kicking and beating process. The idea is to lossen the fibers inside and to produce more sap.

The making of laksoy wine has become a money earning venture . Since, there are small scale industries producing laksoy wine in Caraga Region particularly Butuan City. Since, it is cheaper than the other local wines. It is available in the market locally and even for export. It is popular drink of the Butuanon during festival occasions and social gatherings.
